Office of Personnel Management for the Department of Homeland Security
Challenge:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a singular mission—to secure the American homeland. A workforce of over 180,000 employees are engaged in this continuing effort to reduce the threat of terrorism at home. DHS issued the 2007-2008 Human Capital Operational Plan (HCOP) and identified two human capital priorities to ensure that the agency can compete for the best and the brightest individuals to fill current and projected skills gaps in mission support and critical occupations: 1) Hire and Retain a Talented and Diverse Workforce, and 2) Be a Model of Human Capital Service Excellence.
Solution:
LFS was retained to help the agency attain this goal through a Corporate Recruitment Marketing Program. As part of this campaign LFS developed a project plan and materials including recruitment print ads, a pocket folder, brochures, trade show materials and various other items. All of the materials highlighted the benefits of working at the Department and reinforced their commitment to workplace diversity. LFS was asked to work on several time-sensitive items including design and production of advertisements and recruitment materials enhancing DHS’s established corporate brand. The challenge involved quick turnarounds and short deadlines that needed to be met.
Result:
LFS was able to work quickly to produce concepts and final pieces within DHS’ designated timeframes and requirements. All materials were completed within four months with the first deliverable reaching completion just one week after the inception of the project. The feedback within DHS has been very positive to-date. The project was successful and the client was pleased with the materials produced and the level of customer service that LFS provided. Special note was made by officials regarding our ability to produce high quality work on a tight schedule.
