Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) —
Program Analysis Division (PAD)

Challenge:

Within the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) there is an internal Program Analysis Division (PAD). PAD’s mission is to identify and replicate best practices through the use of its internal Continuous Learning Center.  PAD facilitates collaboration and education by providing a hub for information and tools that assist EPA staff with their mission of protecting human health and the environment.  PAD had the need to increase awareness of the division as its own entity within the EPA. The EPA also wanted to establish branding and a Web site for its integrated management system, EPASTAT. EPA stakeholders had demonstrated the need for detailed information that could be frequently and accurately update. Focusing on gaining knowledge on how the EPA is specifically geared towards success by making public the status of all work.

Solution:

LeapFrog Solutions (LFS) began with researching and evaluating the branding of companies that were similar to PAD and also had customer-focused resource centers housed within larger organizations. Once preliminary research was complete, LFS conducted a cross reference of PAD’s current branding and identified areas for improvement.  LFS then worked with PAD to develop a new brand identity which included logo design and graphic standards for color usage and fonts to be integrated throughout future branded materials.  LFS also developed a separate logo for the new EPASTAT Web site and provide the current status of all projects, display data metrics, define goals, and show the results and analysis of the EPA’s past work and success. EPA’s new Stat site, using the new EPA Stat site logo, LFS designed a site architecture that was user friendly in an easy to navigate format.

Result:

As a result of the rebranding PAD was able to establish its division as a trusted resource and increase awareness among its 17,000 employees in DC and across the US. The EPASTAT site allowed the agency to demonstrate its commitment to providing ongoing information to its audiences in all areas of the EPA.
