Greater Washington Sports Alliance
Challenge:
The Greater Washington Sports Alliance (GWSA) is the regional sports commission for the Greater Washington, DC area. The organization is a comprehensive resource for promoting sporting events, delivering sports information and developing regional collaboration. One of the core goals of the group is to bring marquee sporting events to the Washington, DC region. GWSA began the process of preparing a comprehensive bid book to try to bring the 2015 World Fire and Police Games to Washington DC area and needed a firm to help with developing a brand and laying out the 200 page bid book.
Solution:
LFS was retained to help GWSA attain their goal by creating an exciting and powerful brand and accompanying 200 page bid book to portray the area as an ideal venue for the 2015 Games. LFS created a logo and identity for the effort and began working with GWSA to select photos and other images that embodied the energy and spirit of the Fairfax County, VA area. LFS was asked to work to meet a strict deadline as bids were due to the International organizer within a 2-month timeframe. In order to facilitate the necessary quick turnarounds and production of several different design concepts, LFS developed a timeline in Microsoft Project for all to follow. An LFS Project Manager worked closely with GWSA staff to document all edits to ensure that they were made in a timely and accurate fashion. LFS design professionals presented creative ways to bring the piece to life.
Results:
LFS was able to work quickly to produce concepts and delivered the final 200 page bid book on time and within the allotted budget. LFS also assisted with identifying printers in the area that met specific criterion and then managed all production with the selected printer. Due to the number of pages and images in the piece, specific paper and a particular type of binding were recommended by LFS. The one hundred books were completed on time and sent to Vancouver for consideration by the Selection Committee. GWSA was very pleased with the outcome of the project and the bid book played a major role in helping GWSA secure the bid and award the Washington, DC region as host for the World Fire and Police Games in 2015. Special note was made by GWSA regarding LFS’ ability to produce high quality work on a tight schedule.
