Utron Kinetics
Challenge:
UTRON is an award winning research and development company with an exemplary history of providing advanced technological innovations to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), Department of Energy (DOE), National Science Foundation (NSF), Army, Navy, and other organizations. UTRON came to LeapFrog Solutions with the challenge of promoting their sub-division of UTRON Kinetics. UTRON Kinetics was created to support their new patent-pending technological process, Combustion Driven Compaction (CDC). The CDC process is used in the creation of high-density parts from powdered metal and ceramics. The process has been successfully demonstrated to improve the physical properties of high-density parts for applications in defense, energy, aerospace, automotive and other commercial markets, but it had not yet attracted the interest of proper investors. LeapFrog Solutions’ (LFS) goal was to increase awareness for UTRON Kinetics by establishing and introducing clear branding, both internally and externally.
Solution:
LFS began this process by working with UTRON Kinetics to complete a Framework Analysis Document and Creative Brief in order to best define their positioning and market. The next phase involved establishing a corporate identity based on these findings and developing an updated logo design and graphics standard for UTRON Kinetics. Once the new corporate identity was completed, the look was strategically revealed to the public at a tradeshow event. LFS designed and produced a booth display for the tradeshow which introduced the company’s new image, while showcasing their proven CDC process. Steps towards further enhancing UTRON Kinetics’ presence within the industry include a redesign of their current Web site to reflect their new look and feel and to differentiate them from their parent company UTRON.
Result:
As a result of the rebrand, there has been increased interest for the CDC process throughout the Powder Metallurgy and Particulate materials industry. UTRON Kinetics was able to showcase their patent-pending technologies and successfully establish working relationships with the Department of the Navy, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab.
